Experience the Holidays at the Library…

The Holiday season has arrived in Cutchogue and New Suffolk! We hope that you make the Library part of your holiday tradition by visiting us often. Starting in December, come delight in the Library’s festive decorations – which will provide the perfect photo backdrop for holiday photos! While you are here, enjoy a cup of hot cocoa in the Upstairs Gallery while the kids search for the secretly hidden elves throughout the Library to earn a prize. In the spirit of the season, the Library will be a drop off location for CAST’s Toy Drive as well as offer our annual Giving Tree on which you may hang new or handmade mittens, gloves, scarves and hats that will be donated to local charities. Additionally, the Library will have a table set up where you can take a moment to write a thank you note in support of our troops. Be sure not to miss our “Build a Snowman” interactive display – as we ask the community to come together in helping in creating this very “noteworthy” snowman. And as become a favorite custom, the Library will offer free hot apple cider during the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Goodbye & Hello

Dear Friends,

It is time for me to bid farewell to the Cutchogue New Suffolk Free Library, as I have accepted a position as the Director of Sayville Library. My time here has been a wonderful experience! I am so grateful to have worked in this vibrant library with an amazing staff and Board of Trustees. I am proud of the work we have been able to accomplish - all of which would not be possible without the support of the remarkable Cutchogue and New Suffolk communities. While I am sad to go, I am thrilled to be leaving you in the capable hands of your new Library Director, Rosemary Martilotta. I have had the privilege of working with her over the last four years and know that she is poised to lead the Library in new, exciting directions. Thank you all for your kindness, support and friendship during my tenure here. I will truly miss this very special place.

Happy Autumn!

Autumn and the harvest season has arrived on the North Fork! In addition to pumpkin and apple picking, we hope you will add a visit to the Library to your list of “must dos” this fall. We have a full calendar with events for the entire family. Read on to learn more about of our highlighted events.

Note from the Director

Dear Friends,

What a great summer we are having at our Library! Some highlights were the bus trip to Coney Island, sake and sushi tasting at Stirling Sake, the flat bottom boat tour at the L.I. Aquarium and Bubblemania on the Village Green! In addition to these great events, our Library is seeing a record number of participants in our summer reading programs.

Thanks to generous donors, the Library was able to install new outside furniture, plant two memorial trees in honor of Laura Plimpton and the Berzofsky family as well as begin the remodeling of our Upstairs Gallery. Keep an eye out for new, comfortable lounge seating and a self-service coffee station. Special thanks to the Cutchogue-New Suffolk Historical Council for a donation that will allow us to install custom shelving in the Gallery for Local History materials.

If you would like support the Library with a donation to honor a loved one, please stop in or give me a call at 631-734-6360 and I would be happy to discuss it with you. Thank you for making our Library the vibrant, bustling center of the community.
